Still in my PJ's!!

Image
I LOVE that I'm still in my PJ's.  In my defense I did unload the dishwasher and I did an online ELL training.  That is a lot of work!  I've really not done much else.  I haven't even watched a movie.  I did finally fix-up one product and finish another.  That was work!  I'll show you them in just a second but first I have to share-my kids are giants and I am officially old! Okay, I finally updated my  Numbers on Ice  game.  Now there is a multi-level card game for counting and number identification (including ten's frames), a roll and cover math game, and several review worksheets.  I also finally put the finishing touches on my  I am a Writer  book.  I've been working on this one for a while.  I've also been using it in my classroom. The book currently has 21 pages.  Each page is a different writing procedure or reminder.  Each day I focus on the pages that need the most emphasi...

Merry Christmas! Bad blogger returns!  I figured that linking up with Ms. Kindergarten and Friends would be a good way to try to get back in the grove of things!  Have a very happy holiday! 13. Favorite article of clothing: I am addicted to tank tops (seriously).  I wear them under everything.  I think I might have a problem.  Really, I wear them under t-shirts (even when it's 110)! 12. Favorite movie you watched: The Impossible-It was just so good, moving...a must see! 11. Favorite TV series: I started watching Scandal!  It sucks you in!!! I just feel like Olivia Pope is one of my bff’s, it’s like we are connected! I am so glad to have found her, especially now that Dexter has left me! (He's coming back right)? 10. Favorite restaurant: Hmm … This is a hard one.  I LOVE food, all food, but as many of you know I have this chronic migraine issue and so I’m now, get this … gluten free, dairy free, sugar free..  ...

The Best Thanksgiving Ever

Image
Kind of funny, On Friday I was checking out pinterest and noticed that my sister in law, who is a teacher in NC pinned a coffee filter turkey craft.  The funny part was that I had just done that with my class, that day!!! They turned out pretty cute, and it was nice to do something different. We read The Best Thanksgiving Ever  by Teddy Slater.  It's a very cute story. At the end of the story the turkeys celebrate with Thanksgiving corn!  We used a circle map to brainstorm what other types of food the turkeys might like to celebrate with, besides turkeys.   Then we made our turkeys and speech bubbles!  The turkeys were really easy to make.  I just  drew them and ran them through the copier that copies onto construction paper.  The kids cut them out.  They used scrap paper for the feet, beak and waddle.  They colored their coffee filters with markers in the morning and we sprayed them with water.  They were dry and...

Some Thanksgiving Stuff

I know it's been a while...sadly them Botox didn't do much for my chronic migraine.  I'm working on it from a nutritional angle.  My headaches no longer last for 3 days and that is a major improvement!  Even more sad, sitting down at the computer to type is not much fun with a headache.  But today is a good day.  So enough about me!  I wanted to talk about a few things I'm using in class right now! This past week we started playing our Autumn Wishes Fall Nonsense Word Game during  small groups.  Most of the kids did much better than expected.  I think it really helps the kids who are still having a little trouble with letter sounds too. Not to mention it works wonders for blending! The Thanksgiving CVC Word Card Game is also great for letter sounds and blending. We do math choices nearly everyday.  The games students play during math choices are pretty much always the same, but we switch them out by theme. Right now we a...

Why I haven’t been blogging... This is the only part of the post that is personal, so for those of you who want to get to the school stuff (and I totally get that) skip to the next paragraph.  Anyway, I turned 40 and all you know what broke loose!  I’ve always been a migraine sufferer, but I suddenly stepped up into the chronic category.  We’re talking nearly every day.  I’ve tried eliminating my triggers, changing my diet, eliminating stress (as much as anyone can), getting more exercise, less exercise, yoga, meditation, more water, I’ve tried pretty much everything. Towards the end of the summer I finally dragged myself into a neurologist’s office (one of those “are you tired of living a maybe life” doctor’s from the TV commercial) and she’s doing her best to take care of me.  She put me on some medication that is supposed to prevent them, it doesn’t.  She doubled the dosage, it makes me sick.  On the bright side she ordered some tests to make s...
