    Hi Jody,

    I just found your blog through Lil' Country Kindergarten. I can't wait to look around a bit.

    I'd love it if you'd come over to my blogs as well. I currently have three blogs. I write a home blog (my most widely read blog), a literacy blog, and a kindergarten blog. My literacy and kindergarten blogs are fairly new, so I'd love to get the word out about them. My main website is www.homeiswheremystorybegins.com.
    From there, you can get to all of my blogs. I'd love any advice you have for breaking into the teaching blog world. I feel like I have a pretty good start with my home blog, but no one seems to be reading my other two. Any suggestions for me would be GREATLY appreciated!

Create Your Own Alphabet Line

A while back I blogged about how I create my own alphabet line in my classroom. I wanted to easily explain the process to some new teachers at my school, so I went back and revisited the post.  This is a great way for students to have ownership of the classroom, and in my opinion, student drawn alphabets are always better than anything I could make with clip art or purchase at a teacher store. Here are my directions!  I hope you can find it useful! Create Your Own Alphabet Introduce a new letter each day, in the order of your choice or your school's program (I prefer McCracken’s). How you introduce the letter is really up to you.  I usually start with an alphabet song, have students say the letter and the sound and show them how to write the letter.  Each day create a circle map for the letter. Back to School Giveaway!

  I can not believe it has been two years since I opened my little   TPT   Store!!!   I am so thankful   for all of the support I have found.   I started my store thinking that if I could make back the money for what I spent on clip art, then I could buy more clip art to make more stuff for my classroom.   When I make stuff for my classroom, I share it.   Then I get to buy more clip art! Now, it has turned into a hobby that I   truly   enjoy.  The first big project I made was my behavior calendars.  I update them every year and they are still free.
